What new accounts are worth to CMC in trailers and sales

CMC can ship ~40 trailers a week and averages ~15–25. Business buyers barely search for what CMC sells (~1,300 searches a month), so the plan reaches retailers, hotels and colleges by name. This models what a year of new accounts is worth in trailers and sales. Every count and price is a placeholder until CMC's own numbers replace it.

Buying every B2B mattress search in Google: ~$2,048/mo. Ranking top 3 for all of them: ~192 visits, ~$307/mo in clicks — so the budget goes to reaching buyers by name.

What waiting costs

CMC has room for 20 more trailers a week before it reaches ~40, or 1,040 a year. At the plan's mix of buyers a trailer averages $20,385 in sales, so that empty room is worth about $21.2M a year (~$408K a week). Each month without new accounts defers about $150,625 of sales. Colleges put next summer's mattresses out to bid from February to May.

Assumptions & sources. Every count and price is a placeholder until CMC shares its own (trailer log, units and sales per trailer, margin, new accounts and reorders). Capacity: CMC (ships ~15–25 trailers a week on average; ceiling ~40 a week). Search: Ahrefs Keywords Explorer, US, pulled 8–9 Oct 2026: ~1,280 business searches a month (mattress wholesale, wholesale mattresses, institutional and hospitality mattresses, mattress recycling program, university mattress) against ~27,350 household searches for disposal, recycling and removal; CPC $1.50–1.70 (modeled at $1.60); top 3 for every business search modeled at a 15% click share, ~192 visits a month. Hotels: AHLA 2025 (64,165 US hotels, ~5.7M rooms at year-end 2024; mattresses replaced every 7–10 years; 1.5 beds a room is an assumption); IHG approved list (queen sets $340–$440). Colleges: 2020 Census (~2.79M residents in college housing); NCES (2,691 four-year colleges); 12 public campus bids (orders of 162 to ~3,000 mattresses, median 820; bids Feb–May, delivery late May–Aug); South Carolina and Iowa state contracts ($100–$323 a twin XL); GVSU's RFP (292–340 dorm mattresses in one 53-foot truck, modeled at ~300). Buyers: GWI Core + Work, US business decision-makers: 34.6% would consider a new supplier to cut costs, 12.2% for sustainability certifications.
Formula. Retail = accounts × trailers a year per account × sales per trailer. Hotels = projects × sets per project × price per set (÷ 50 sets per trailer). Colleges = orders × mattresses per order × price per mattress (÷ ~300 per trailer). D2C = orders a month × 12 × average order (÷ 50 per trailer). Yearly sales = the four added together. Trailers a week with the plan = shipped today + new trailers ÷ 52. Idle capacity filled = new trailers ÷ ((40 − shipped a week) × 52). Sales per $1 of ads = yearly sales ÷ (ad budget × 12); gross margin per $1 = that × gross margin. Ad cost per new account = ad budget × 12 ÷ (retail accounts + hotel projects + college orders). Ads pay for themselves at = ad budget × 12 ÷ (gross margin × sales per account, D2C left out). Empty trailers are valued at the yearly sales ÷ new trailers. NAMU removal fees and ROAST fees are not in the number. The model doesn't tie accounts to ad spend: the tiers pair each budget with the accounts we think it can reach.
